Late day on the bikes yesterday as we back tracked north for a while from Grant Village Yellowstone to check out the Old Faithful geyser, the surrounding mud pools and the world's largest log structure (seriously wow! See pic). Mud pools were impressive and some of the hot springs have crazy colours that come from bacteria. The water is warm enough that they are always smoking and bubbling away. There are big fines for throwing anything in the pools as the vents are easy to block and once this happens, they apparently will never restart. Still managed to witness a yank throw a rock in and have a giggle in the process though. Should have pushed him in to get it.
Heading back south we approached and then went around the Teton range, once again, impressive mountains seemingly popping up out of no where.
Stopped in Jackson for a bite to eat at the Cowboy Bar. Very nice town that seems to be obsessed with deer antlers, they are tied together and used to form archways, gates, anything you can think of. Would have had to kill a few deer to build them but it doesn't seem to worry them. Starting to think that the reason I didn't see any grizzlies in Yellowstone was because they are all stuffed and on display in the local servo/hotel/bar.

Jackson to Evanston was a nice ride inside a valley only wide enough for a creek and a road. Lots of people rafting and fishing along the banks where the beavers live. The valley ended up opening into a huge plain with lots of small ranches and drier land. This area is apparently normally almost a desert but they've had a lot of rain here recently so its very green at the moment.
Evanston proved uneventful. Very quiet town and the Friday night hot spot was actually the lounge at our hotel (we learned this from a local after walking across town). Was just a pub full of blokes and a crappy DJ so called an early one.

Another day where the rain clouds were all around us but we dodged getting wet.
Will update again soon!
